Danish design brand Normann Copenhagen has released a rug collection named Gem. Designed by Anne Lehmann, the rugs are available in two sizes and three colour palettes: purple, blue and grey.
The inspiration for the asymmetrical shape and three-dimensional effect comes from nature's flint stones, minerals and precious stones. Lehmann explains: “The idea behind the Gem rugs came from the inspiration I took from the crystal structures in minerals such as amethyst, quartz and pyrite, which are not defined by an oval or square shape, but rather by asymmetrical facets."
"My intention was to design a series of beautiful rugs with the graphics on their surfaces creating a three-dimensional effect. Each rug combines different colour shades that either accentuate or soften surrounding colours, depending on what other objects and colours you have chosen for the space.”
Retail prices start at £540 for the 140x200cm version and £680 for the 170x240cm version.
