German renewable energy specialists Younicos will launch a new mobile energy unit at Milan Design Week in April. Called Yill, the unit is designed by Werner Aisslinger and can provide energy to a workstation for up to three days.
Yill is powered by rechargeable lithium titanium batteries and provides 300 watts of cordless electricity. The product is intended to ease offices and work environments into a sustainable future, where renewable energy is generated independently by companies and individuals, with surplus power stored for future use.
For further reading on sustainable use of both energy and materials, subscribers can read Efficiency: rational design and responsible consumption, Chris Lefteri's latest report for WGSN-homebuildlife.
