WGSN-homebuildlife visited a traditional Houki broom store in the port of Kyobashi in Tokyo to find inspiration and learn about the ancient craft of broom making.
Japanese brooms known as Houki have been around since the Edo period, and were originally made from bamboo, hemp palm fibres and millet. Houki are often seen as being sacred: apart from their practical qualities, they are seen as having cleansing properties as they sweep through the house brushing away bad spirits.
