Artificial mother of pearl by Emile de Visscher



RCA student Emile de Visscher has created a man-made equivalent of nacre, the material mother of pearl is made of.  Showing the potential of modern technology and science to enhance and mimic nature, de Visscher's project uses a custom-built machine to slowly coat objects in the beautiful, protective material.
