“I’m interested in learning about the making processes tradesmen use - making which is driven by necessity,” explains University of Brighton 3D Material Practice graduate Bridget Wheeler, whose project Brick/Bowls makes decorative objects out of the utilitarian brickmaking process.

After watching videos on Youtube and learning about how to make bricks from a book, Wheeler replicated the process and modified elements - such as the proportions of the mould and glazing the inside of the clayed bowls - to customise each piece. The project will be on display at New Designers in London until tomorrow.
