Central Saint Martins graduate Stephanie Sommet's projects Cities Colour Palette and The Mineral Collection explore architectural vernacular around the world, and the beauty of imperfection.

In Cities Colour Palette, each pile of double cast bowls represents a different city through the materials used: London is represented by bone china, concrete, and terracotta, for the red bricks throughout the city.

The other cities - Paris, Porto and Bruges - sit alongside an international pile made entirely from concrete, because, as Sommet explains, "concrete is seen throughout the world."

The Mineral collection uses three different types of clays; stoneware, porcelain and terracotta; all of which are press moulded and vitrified, to create cracks and imperfections on a smooth, strong finish.

"The imperfect and heavy nature of the tableware encourages the user to really observe the material of the pieces as well as their surroundings," says Sommet.
